Relationships, the Currency of Business

Since its creation in 2004, Anttix has been focused on creating a new experience for people seeking web development services. We wanted a different experience that is more connected and especially more human. Since our inception, we saw the need for a reliable, relatable company that could provide high-quality service along with responsive communication. As we have grown over the years, we have cherished the relationships we have built with our clients, as well as business partners. We believe that these connections help us grow, not only as businesses but as people.

What Makes Anttix Great

I vividly remember the first day that I walked into the office. It wasn't for my first day of work, but instead for my interview. I was quite nervous because this was my first "real" job. I wore a nice blazer with jeans and dress shoes, trying to be professional, but showed them I was down to earth. While I was walking through the doors, I never truly knew what to expect. The first thing I saw was a very simplistic office that spoke volumes to me. Artwork from astounding comic artists hung up on the wall in sleek matte black frames, colorful figures standing on the desks of the office.

Introducing the New Anttix Office!

Anttix has officially moved into our new home office! We are incredibly excited to announce our new location at 2541 Division Street Unit 105 in Joliet. Our office features convenient parking, a meeting area for our clients and future events, as well and comfort and convenience for our staff. We couldn't be more excited about our new space, and we can't wait to share it with our current and future clients!

Website Security Isn’t an Option

Since 2014, Google has been encouraging website owners to use HTTPS.  So what is HTTPS?  HTTP is Hypertext Transfer Protocol and is the technology that passes information for websites across the Internet.  HTTPS is the secure version of HTTP and uses an SSL Certificate to encrypt the traffic, which is a good first step in website security.  When a website uses HTTPS the data is protected from hackers viewing the traffic.

New Year - New Site!

Each and every year we learn something new about web design, development, marketing, and security. As new projects come along, we apply these new techniques, standards, and practices to make sure all of our sites are as current as possible. These upgrades include new and innovative styles along with exciting new technology breakthroughs and the latest versions of software offering exciting new features. If time and cost permitted we would update every site we maintain as often as possible, but to conserve both of those valuable resources we revisit a website every three years or so.

Infographics Illustrated

Recently you may have heard the term "Infographic" thrown around a lot in business. Some of you may have heard of it and even implemented your own for your company. Others may have never heard of them at all. This article aims to cover all the bases, from what Infographics are, why to use them, and how to get them as soon as possible.

What Is Drupal?

When we build websites for our clients, we openly and proudly explain that we build all of our websites on the Drupal platform. For some of those clients, this has little to no meaning. There is no fault for this, as this can be a technical aspect that mostly matters to developers but it never hurts to understand what is powering your website and why. More importantly, it can be good to comprehend why Anttix chooses Drupal over other platforms and how it might benefit you.

Managing A Vulnerable Website

In the recent years we are noticing more and more just how aggressive hackers can be. With the many large institutions getting compromised every day this creates fear but it lacks understanding for website owners who are not sure what to do and whether or not they are vulnerable to these same attacks. This article explores both those questions and a few more when it comes to the vulnerability of your website.

Creating Content - Part II

In the first part of our series we talked about how to write great content for your site. By now you probably have a paragraph or two, maybe some bullet points, or some dynamic content like tables and charts. Here in Part II of our series we will talk about how best to organize this content into your site, what search engines look for when they read through your content, and especially what your users want to see. Just slapping your content into the site will not get the job done. We want to help you get the most of that content and organizing wins the battle.

New Year's Resolutions

As we approach the new year, some of us have begun planning our New Year's resolutions. Its those little bad habits and fruitful goals we plan to do something about when a fresh start rolls around. Sometimes we simply stop doing bad things like fast food or start doing good things like exercising more. Either way, we aim to be better people in the coming year and grow instead of stand still or decline.

Creating Content - Part I

When assisting clients with content, Anttix strives to steer them in the right direction. Most of the time we handle a lot of content optimization behind the scenes, making sure it is displaying correctly, free of errors, and indexed properly for search engines. The rest of the burden lies with the client, who must supply the best possible version of their content they can including relative information, informative answers, and quality resources. This blog series aims to shed some light on both sides of the process, both from the developer and the client.

The Power of the Testimonial

Many of us put great stock in reviews, testimonials, and recommendations given on a variety of different commercial websites. From Amazon 5-star ratings to Yelp reviews, we hold these pieces of information in great regard when purchasing goods and services. Hearing first-hand information from someone who utilized the service or used the product gives us more reassurance when making a decision and rightfully so. The manufacturer or service will always claim their product and/or service is the best in their industry but we generally will not just take them on their word.

Best Kept Secret - The Small Business

This Saturday, following Black Friday, marks the 4th annual Small Business Saturday founded by American Express in 2010. This event aims to help small businesses get more customers rather than the big box stores that receive most of the consumer attention around the holidays. This annual event encourages shoppers to stop in a local small business and give them a chance, which helps grow local pride and supports the next great business on the rise.

Security Update: BadUSB

We all know we can get viruses and malware from various websites and shady emails, but did you know an untrustworthy USB device can do far more harm? The latest technology threat comes in small packages, such as USB storage, charging stations, and peripherals. An insecure USB device plugged into your computer, laptop, or phone can quickly corrupt your computer or device beyond repair. That doesn't mean a simple trip to a computer repair service or software update will fix your problem. That means your entire computer may just have to be thrown out.

Head in the Cloud

Those of us who do important work, for both the household and the workplace, on a computer know the importance our files can hold. They might be our finances, our school work, or simply the Christmas shopping list all planned out. Either way, we hope to protect them and keep them from corruption as much as we can. Since the early days of home computing we relied on removable disks and drives (remember the Zip Drive?) to backup and store our files to protect against computer crashes and viruses that may corrupt them.

The Fight for Net Neutrality

Recently Anttix posted an article from Gizmodo regarding the President’s request to the FCC to declare the Internet as a public utility, much like water and electricity. This is a grand stride towards Net Neutrality, something Anttix is passionate about in the field of web design and internet services. Net Neutrality is the principal that all Internet service providers (ISPs) should provide all data equally and not charge differently depending on subscribers and content providers.

Shorewood Web Design Firm Serious about Security

In a recent Blog posting Google announced that they were getting serious about security.

“Security is a top priority for Google. We invest a lot in making sure that our services use industry-leading security, like strong HTTPS encryption by default… We want to go even further. At Google I/O a few months ago, we called for “HTTPS everywhere” on the web.”

What is Google Looking For Today?

As web developers and website owners we have to ask ourselves on a regular basis, "What is Google looking for today?" This means that we are away of how often Google changes and improves their search algorithm to accommodate the best possible results for their visitors. The certainly don't just trust the same algorithm from 10 years ago will do the job.

Poodlebleed SSL Vulnerability Announcement

Many website owners and technology enthusiasts already know about the recent Heartbleed vulnerability with the security of a website, also known as SSL. This vulnerability has since been corrected but now we are facing a new emerging threat called Poodlebleed. Poodle stands for Padding Oracle On Downgraded Legacy Encryption but what it basically means is the secure data passed between a secure server and a web browser can be compromised and changed into plain text. That means passwords, credit card numbers, and other sensitive data can be read and taken while in transit.

Local Pursuit

At Anttix, we put our best into every project that comes our way but we have a special place in our hearts for local businesses and organizations. The main reason is we get to work side by side and face to face with our client to improve and contribute to the areas we ourselves strive in. Would you want to improve the local energy company or your own chamber of commerce? There is something to be said of that small town mentality where everyone helps everyone else out. It’s comforting and beneficial to everyone involved.

Devices Devices Everywhere

As of January 1st of this year Pew Research reports that 90% of American adults have a cell phone, 58% of American adults have a Smartphone, 32% of American adults own an e-reader, and 42% of American adults own a tablet computer. These numbers are only growing by the day so if you do not already own a Smartphone, e-reader, or tablet then you may soon be in the market for one. As prices of these devices become more affordable and their capabilities become greater it may be harder and harder to choose the right one. Let this article help you go about the decision the right way.

The Open Source World

In today's modern world the term "Open Source" is being used more and more to describe software but many individuals still have a hard time understanding what it means. The term is often associated with "Free" and "Unlicensed" which are both true but that doesn't really paint a good picture of what Open Source really means. The key is the word "Open" in Open Source. It means the software is open to the public, open to the technology community, and most importantly open to other like-minded developers who can help improve it.

Website Cost Benefit

This biggest deciding factor for many of our clients when choosing a website developer is cost. Every responsible company has a budget and websites likely fall into the marketing or technology portion of that budget. Why wouldn't it when most people use the internet to find goods or services more and more each day. The question is how much of your budget should be dedicated to your website and what is the Cost/Benefit analysis?

Rising to Standards

The question we get asked the most is simply, "What makes Anttix different?" It is a fair question, with so many other website design companies out there doing excellent work. Some companies work in bulk, churning out multiple websites a month with templates and pre-built solutions for a very low cost. Some companies work in the opposite direction by only working on large-scale, high-end web applications costing hundreds of thousands of dollars and sometimes years to develop. Anttix generally falls in between, but it is certainly not the scale of our projects.

Behind the Design

During the past several months Anttix has spoken quite a bit about Responsive Design and how we have entirely adopted this method of design to accommodate all devices our websites may be viewed on. It has already become very clear to our clients that their website is not just viewed on desktop computers but phones and tablets as well. In most cases the mobile devices are used to view these websites more often than anything else.

The Power of Email

When we first started using email it was a simple tool for avoiding snail mail and sending quick messages to friends and family. Once the business world started adopting email into their processes it became a powerful tool for inter-office communication. When businesses took it further and started using email to communicate with their clients it became an even more powerful tool for sharing simple and even critical information. Soon after, email became a means of delivering important information and confirming your identity with many online applications.

Website Trend Awards

As Oscar and Emmy season approaches we at Anttix decided to give our own awards to website trends you, the World Wide Web visitors, have embraced so far in 2014. We call attention to these trends as signs of things to come and smart moves for all website owners to take moving into the next year. Don't confuse trends for gimmicks and fly-by-night ideas, these practices are here to stay and have a very positive effect on your website.

Understanding the Web- Part III: Design

Often the design phase of a website's construction is the part to which clients can most relate. It is easier to contemplate how a website will look rather than how it will work. With design comes the face of the website-- its visual expression and what is sometimes referred to as its 'feel'. This is the impression the site gives the visitor when he/she first views it. Professional or amateur. Fun or serious. Simple or complex. All of these factors build the personality of the website and appeal to different users in different ways.

Understanding the Web- Part I: Domain Registration

Panic!  You just received an official-looking letter in the mail, informing you that your website domain is about to expire.  You are instructed to act soon or forfeit your beloved domain forever.

Sound familiar?  Too often our clients have received these bogus letters.  Rest assured; these letters may look like they hail from some important national organization, but they are nothing more than junk mail advertisements.

Building on a Firm Foundation

A website is an important part of any company, supplying a major portion of its identity. Without a website, businesses quickly fall behind in their respective competitive markets, particularly among younger demographics. Of course, not all websites are created equal. Once the development phase has been initiated, there are a few paths a designer can take. Just like a building engineer, a competent website designer will carefully consider the foundation and subsequent structure. Skipping these steps will, in essence, fail the visitors.

The Importance of Branding

At Anttix, we devote significant attention to the Design phase of each project, not only to provide our clients with attractive websites but to create an everlasting image for the product which we are introducing to the internet. Embedding that image into the minds of our clients' users is called branding. Often it is one of the most important parts of the project.

New Frontiers

Anttix has been and always will be an evolving company. That means we strive to better ourselves, our services, and our quality of customer care. To do so, every so often we adjust and enhance our services to remain at the cusp of our ever-changing industry. This month we would like to discuss the ways in which we are scaling down, scaling up, and staying the same.

Benefits of Video Marketing

Anttix has consistently been involved with video application and production. We are now pleased to introduce video capabilities among the list of services we offer our website clients. If you want to generate more website traffic, do not rely solely on written content. Even the best text content is enhanced with dynamic video.

Pluses of Google Plus

Since Google unveiled its +1 button in March, some internet users have been waiting for the search engine company to make its mark on the social network scene. Finally, Google Plus (or Google+) joins the ranks, rivaling current juggernauts, including the mighty Facebook.

Head in the Cloud

You have probably heard the term 'cloud' thrown about a lot lately in conversations about computing, websites, and mobile technology. Countless commercials for smartphones and computer operating systems use the word, but they never seem to clearly define it. Simply put, cloud computing refers to using multiple computers, or rather, servers, as one. To fully understand what this means, let's take a look back.

508-Compliant Websites

Section 508 of the Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requires federally funded agencies to ensure that their procurement of information technology takes into account the needs of all users, including those with disabilities. To create that a website is 508-compliant, certain criteria must be met. Following is a list of basic guidelines.

Offer Text Equivalents to Images
Alternative text provides a textual replacement for pictures (images). Screen readers and talking browsers cannot do anything with an image itself, but they can announce the alternative text instead.

Anttix Quality Assurance Checklist

Too often website developers simply walk away once all of the content and images have been added to the site. Some believe that when a site is fully functional, the job is done. Anttix takes a more in-depth approach. Overlooking the smallest detail can mean future problems for the site- or worse- immediate issues. In order for us to grant a website our stamp of approval, we must pass our own strict set of guidelines. This is our Quality Assurance (QA) Checklist. Every website- no matter how big, small, old, or new- undergoes this review prior to going live.

Erotic Website Policy

Over the past few months, Anttix has been approached a number of times with requests to build erotic websites. While there is no clear reason for this increasing trend, we would like to take this opportunity to review our policy.

Benefits of Local Listing

In today's competitive business world, old marketing media like phonebooks, newspapers, and television are outdated. People are now turning to the internet or their smartphones for information, particularly when it comes to their routine daily needs.

Featuring... Plainfield

Anttix is pleased to feature the local town of Plainfield, Illinois this month. During the past decade, Plainfield has experienced a population explosion that initiated with the sale of many area farms. This made way for a large number of new subdivisions, and savvy developers took note. As young families and exurbanites took root, the face of Plainfield's once agricultural heritage began to change. In less than a generation, the town grew from 13,000 to over 40,000 residents.

How Are You Viewing the Web?

Just a few years ago, the sharing and receiving of electronic information only took place in the home or office. Now, mobile technology has changed how and where we view internet content. Cell phones, laptops, and tablet PCs are ubiquitous, all powered by fast Wi-Fi networks available everywhere from airplanes to fast food restaurants.

Flash & the Future of Web Content

In many of our projects, Anttix has used Flash to create what is called rich media content for websites. This highly interactive and visually appealing content is attractive to users' senses. At the same time, though, we have discouraged clients from using too much Flash content or building an entire site from Flash. We still maintain this advice as the excessive use of Flash has more drawbacks than ever.

This Old Drupal House

Among web development companies, Anttix is referred to as a 'Drupal house'. Drupal is an open source content management system that is used to build websites. Mostly written in PHP scripting language, the Drupal framework can easily support multimedia, event calendars, social networking, customized page layouts, forums, user management, and permission features. It facilitates the development of large, complex websites and offers unique aspects unavailable through any other comparable solution.

Time For an Upgrade?

Anttix insists on quality, and part of that quality is attained through the advanced software we use to create and maintain innovative websites. From time to time, the developers of our software send out updates, and we make it a priority to keep all updates current for maximum performance. Likewise, we recommend that all of our clients implement major or minor upgrades as necessary, particularly when making changes to their websites.

A Step Ahead of Malware

One of the functions of the Anttix Antics newsletter is to inform clients of potential internet and web-related dangers. As such, we have always highly encouraged the use of quality antivirus software to protect your computer from spyware and malware. This year, however, mobile device users need to take that priority one step further.

Anttix Partners With Community

From website design for small and medium-sized businesses, to efficient applications for entire school districts, Anttix provides the quality internet presence that the region demands. Anttix also understands that, in order to return client loyalty, a business must give back to its community. This has been a key component of the Anttix mission since the company's inception. Most recently, Anttix showed its support for the Plainfield area by becoming an emerald sponsor in the Edward Plainfield Harvest 5K Run.

Neutralizing the Net

The term 'net neutrality' is unfamiliar to most people, even though it may affect their access to certain aspects of the internet. The underlying principle states that internet user access networks should support restriction-free content, websites, platforms, kinds of equipment that may be attached, and modes of communication. In other words, your internet service provider (Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, etc.) should not be able to restrict you from accessing content outside of their networks.

Flashy Websites

In the world of website design, ‘Flash’ is defined as vector-graphic animation technology. Simply put, it is a tool that permits movement of screen images, allowing an otherwise bland page to emit visual interest. The goal is to keep the visitor engaged enough to 1.)remember the business/organization, 2.)spend significant time at the site, and 3.)return to the site.

Take a Peek

How broad is the scope of Anttix design and development services? Just visit sometime and click on our Portfolio. You will see a colorful gallery of thumbnail homepages of websites we have designed in recent years. Clicking the images reveals a brief description of the design concept, as well as a link to the website. You may even see your own website featured.

Gimme a Little Credit

Now more than ever, anyone with a website should incorporate some form of a blog. This regular communication not only keeps your website fresh, but it goes a long way in establishing your credibility.

Look at blogging from the reader's (blogee's?) perspective for a moment. When he can view a blog that is consistently and faithfully updated, it suggests a foundation of permanence. You were here yesterday, you are here today, and odds are you will be here tomorrow when I log in.

Twitter Goes to the Library

In some respect, we all have a hand in writing human history. Now that act is more literal than ever before if you are among the millions who tweet. In mid-April, the Library of Congress announced that it would be digitally archiving every tweet ever posted by any little blogging bird. The 210-year old institution adds this ever-growing record to its mammoth collection of every book, print, photo, map, or musical piece registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.

Plainfield Chamber & Anttix Announce Contest Winners

The Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Anttix, Inc. (a website and marketing company) are pleased to announce the winners of the First Annual Young Photographers Contest.

This year’s contest theme was “Plainfield through your eyes”, which assigned District 202 students to take photographs of Plainfield, Illinois. Each student brought his/her unique perspective of the vibrant and rapidly growing town. Winners were then chosen by the Plainfield Chamber board members.

Why W3C Matters

By definition, W3C stands for World Wide Web Consortium, an international community where member organizations and the public work together to develop standards in the interest of leading the internet to its full potential. The key feature of this standardization is consistent and proper coding guidelines for programming languages HTML, CSS, and XML.

Internet Seniority

They go to Google most often. Then they stop by Windows Media Player to get their tunes on. From there, they log onto their Facebook profiles to see what their friends are up to. "They" are seniors... and not the ones in high school. According to Simply Amplify (see links), Facebook is the third most popular website for Internet users over the age of 65. Not only are senior citizens the fastest growing United States demographic, but 55-75-year-olds are the fastest growing internet population.

Extending Your Welcome

Businesses have a tendency to focus on their standard demographic. If they typically serve a specific age, gender, orientation, or interest group, it is natural to sometimes narrowly define that group when creating a marketing plan. It is important, however, to expand the scope to include other growing markets whenever possible.

As the senior citizen internet user population increases, how should your website respond? The good news is that the 'rules' are largely the same, with a few minor tweaks.

Scam Savvy Teens

You told them what?!
A teenager I know recently approached me excitedly. He told me all about the online contest he had won. Among hundreds of thousands of others, he was selected to receive $1,000, and various perks, including free dvd rentals. Naturally suspicious, I asked him when and how he entered this contest. "That was the best part-- I didn't even have to enter!" he boasted.

Safe, Secure, and Secret

When I was growing up, I remember adults quipping that, "Only two things in life are certain-- death and taxes." Perhaps these days that adage should be changed to read "death, taxes, and computer viruses". Either you have already experienced the frustration of dealing with a computer virus, or you will, at some point, be the target of an attack. This should not be cause for alarm, provided you are armed with the best defense.

And Then There Were Two

While there are countless legitimate search engines available to satisfy your query needs, most of us do not feel too creative when it comes to the routine task of locating information. We tend to choose a search engine as our default, and conveniently pop phrases in as needed.

Cool Kids of 2009

Were you among the throngs of fans who googled Michael Jackson back in June? Or did you do some research to find out how much cash Uncle Sam might give you for your clunker? Maybe you followed the Jon & Kate Plus 8 (divide by 2) math. The results from the major search engines are in, and while some top searches reflect popular topics of 2009, a few sites are quietly sneaking upward.

See For Yourself

If you are considering Anttix for your web development and/or hosting needs, but would like to see our creations firsthand, visit our website. View our Portfolio page for a wide range of websites that we have designed.

Because Anttix approaches each individual project uniquely with our custom 7-step process, we are able to serve clients as varied as law firms, construction companies, churches, funeral homes, community organizations, and others. Check out the key features for each of these websites, or click the direct link to see the elegant, innovative final products.

Hosting Evaluated

It is no secret that the United States has had financial difficulties during what is now being termed The Great Recession. As small business is the economic backbone of the country, many privately owned enterprises have been hit particularly hard as customers tighten their purse strings. Such circumstances cause us to closely evaluate the many costs of operating a business. Somewhere along that checklist lies hosting.

Your Space, Your Face

How many friends do you have? Okay, next question: how many would you recognize if you ran into them at the grocery store? Social networking websites like MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter have not only added new words to our vocabulary, but they have made it easy to collect other individuals, bands, organizations, and even companies. These pages of lists can link you to endless other profiles, raising your quantity of network connections.

Paperless Solutions Now Available

"By the year 2000, you probably won't be using books, pens, or paper..." I remember hearing some forward-thinking teacher make this prediction when I was in grade school. While you will still find plenty of pens on my desk, and my bookshelves are far from empty, there is a certain amount of truth in the idea that we are moving toward paperless offices. Perhaps paperless is a bit of an exaggeration, but there are many simple electronic capabilities that allow us to reduce paper use, while saving time and effort.

Have you ever gone to a website and been impressed by the moving or changing pictures that greet you? Have you ever gone to a website and been annoyed by these same features? Flash is the program that makes this possible. Depending on design, it can be implemented as an entire website, or just part of a site. In some cases, the images are interactive, adding further interest for the viewer.

Bada Bing!

In early June, Microsoft added another goofy-named search engine to the ranks.  'Bing' was designed to be in direct competition with Google, and to a lesser extent, Yahoo!.  Its primary distinctive feature is that it organizes results in a more structured format, and those results can then be refined.

Credibility Through SSL Certificates

By now most internet savvy people understand the dangers of identity theft. Many website owners, however, do not fully grasp the necessity of protecting their site users with SSL certificates.

'SSL' stands for secure socket layer. Simply stated, when a website has an SSL certificate, it guarantees secure transactions between web servers and browsers. A cryptographic system is used to encrypt data, requiring two keys to unlock it. One is public, known to everyone. The other is private, known only to the recipient.

Readable (and Even Enjoyable) Content

You know you have a great business. Your customers tell you so all the time. Now you want a worldwide audience to know what you do, and how well you do it. All it takes is a set of meaningful text pages. Simple, right? Hardly.

Whether you have no idea what to write, or too many ideas to incorporate, staring at a blank page can be intimidating. Before you worry about what to write, familiarize yourself with some guidelines for how to write:

Anttix Goes Green

It might seem like a website development company would automatically be green. After all, there are no smoke stacks belching soot, and we are not dumping toxic sludge into the rivers of Illinois. Often though, it is the little things we overlook that can impact our environment. To combat some of the problems that affect the atmosphere of our globe, Anttix has taken the following steps:

Blog Blog Blog or Blah Blah Blah?

The word "blog" ranks highly among the silliest words invented by the internet community. It sounds like a state of utter unmotivation experienced by a large, science fiction creature. In actuality, "blog" is short for "web log". As the term implies, the author (the website owner or a designated representative) writes and posts a public entry of topics, ideas, facts, and opinions to provide a coherent chronicle relating to the website. That's a technical definition. The results, as you no doubt know, range greatly in purpose and readability.

Whenever we contact a friend, one of the first questions we naturally ask is, "What's new with you?" If we have spoken to him recently, the answer may be short and simple. On the other hand, if it has been a while since we have visited, there may be much to catch up on. When we refer to website traffic as 'visitors', it is because this same principle of updating applies. The longer someone has been away from your site, the more he should find to explore when he returns.

E-readers 101

A broken-in pair of slippers, a mug of steaming coffee, and your favorite... screen? Handheld electronic book screens, better known as e-readers, popped up as gifts from coast to coast this past holiday season. While Amazon released its Kindle in late 2007, this was the year e-readers really caught on, partly due to an aggressive advertisement campaign as newcomers Barnes & Noble Nook and Sony Reader entered the competition.

Bah, Humbug, and Leave Me Alone!

'Spam', a slang term for unsolicited junk email, is about as appealing as the box-shaped meat product of the same name. Most people don't really think much about spam until they are getting hundreds of junk emails daily. With each new spam message it takes longer to check email. From a practical standpoint, blocking spam saves time and money in the long run.

Maintaining a Great Website

When we first launch a website for a client, there is a lot of enthusiasm and optimism. As time passes, however, site owners tend to take one of two paths. Some continue to update and add to the site on a regular basis, continually brainstorming new ideas to generate traffic. Others take a little less initiative. While everyone's level of comfort when dealing with website maintenance is different, there must be some interaction to keep the site fresh.

Google Analytics - What the Numbers Mean

We all know that it is important to generate site traffic. Most people also understand the value of knowing how many people visit/have visited their sites. The 1990s even added a whole new definition for the word hit to the dictionary. What about the deeper questions, though? Who are these invisible site visitors, and where are they coming from? What path do they take, once on the site? What is keeping them there, and when are they leaving? Most importantly, are your current methods working?
